Mr. Sanes is a survivor of The Battle of Midway in WW II.  The 3/26 corpsmen group attended a commemoration held at the Great Lakes Naval Facility to honor the 71st anniversary of the battle.  Really an interesting person with a great memory for detail of the battle as he saw it aboard the USS Hammann DD- 412 which was sunk during the battle.  See:  http://militaryhistory.about.com/od/worldwari1/p/Midway.htm

When Mr. Sanes was called to war he was not able to finish bootcamp because sailors were needed so badly.  Please see article in Navy Times about Mr. Sanes recent graduation from Navy Bootcamp at Great Lakes Training Center. Please click for link submitted by Joe Hancock

The Midway Commemoration Ceremony was held in the museum on the naval base.   Mr. Harris Kohn (above) is a Korean war vet who volunteers his time at the museum.
